Typer-Writer

1 May 2016 No Comment

I like the analogy of the typewriter—

Where the handwritten make fonts fonder.

On paper, with ink—

Expressing what we think.

You be the typer, I’ll be the writer-

You be Romeo & and me- Juliet like no other.

We express what we feel:

About each other.

The skins we peel,

This nakedness undercover.

You be the typer, I’ll be the writer-

As we take independent journeys as walkers and riders.

We speak of cake and warm coffee,

Hugs & tears, cheese and wine:

Shots of Tequila and Kamikaze—

This distance making it impossible for limbs to overlap, conjoin.

You be the typer, I’ll be the writer-

Books and diaries, jobs and  careers.

Kisses to lipstick & movies,

We imagine when we are together—

We will be all the more groovy,

But we are really talking the impossible here.

You be the typer, I’ll be the writer-

These notes, SMSes, emails- will keep our insides warmer.

We got real— we don’t talk, don’t ping—

All the obvious reasons not to, shut down the fireworks—

All reminiscent of ghosted flings.

Our baggage, our past—-lurks.

So you will type and I will write.

Just not to each other.

Just NOT to each other.
