In the wee mornings of Meanjin/Brisbane, I joined a group of very talented artists, researchers, academics and practitioners for the lightning talks of Uroboros Festival opening. We have all sorts of exciting work showcasing: blockchain and art, social media censorship of sex work , pataphysics, a pig mourning ceremony, learning feral ways of transformation, a lexicon for creative practice and eco-social transformative thinking, More-than-Human Derive and more.

TransHuman Saunter came in at around 1:19 hrs but not without some tech fumbling. You can watch it in the video below. Our sessions are on 15th and 16th May 2021.

We will perform during QUT Art Museum’s session “Speaking Up: responding to On Earth” as part of BAD festival (+ Botanica) on 8th May.

About Uroboros Festival

The Uroboros – Designing in Troubling Times is a hybrid festival and community network performing experimental inquiry into the transformative potential of design research and practice. Our collective inquiry and activities are inspired by the ambiguous symbol of Uroboros – a serpent devouring itself and changing its form in an eternal cycle of re-creation, using its own body as fuel. The circular and cyclical Uroboros captures the ambiguity of present technologies and designs for the troubling and troubled times that we are living in. Asking what design can do to support positive change, we explore the cyclical processes of design imagination, innovation, failure and return.
