MASK /ear(t)h /RAID is a geolocative storytelling piece created in collaboration with Ariadne Pediotaki, Eman Abdou, Raffaella Pagogna and Yichao Zha. It was conceptualised during the Locative Media Summer School, 2nd- 16th July 2020.

Taking our positionality of “where we are”, in this project we explore our relationships with this inert object – the mask. The map is used as a tool, a code, a bed of stories. We explore our mobility with it to survive, the COVID-19 generated waste, it’s commodification as people die of the virus, it’s role in surveillance and how societal inequity is negotiated through its symbolism. We explore its place through poetry, visual aids, auditory artefact and audiovisual recordings.
