Justice Course Lecture 1

22 March 2013 No Comment

Times I love the Internet: All because there are these wonderful courses online, which I have been meaning to do forever.

Michael Sandel is teaching it, all the way from Harvard. I just took the first lecture on ‘Consequential & Categorical Reasoning’ and already got the names to follow on- Jeremy Bentham & Emmanuel Kant.

And I got this, a wee saying by Emmanuel Kant:

“Skepticism is a resting place for human reason, where it can reflect upon its dogmatic wanderings, but it is no dwelling place for permanent settling. Simply to acquiesce in skepticism can never suffice to overcome the restlessness of reason.”

I have been reading up on Utilitarianism- the word is long and I misspell it…

I have progressed to J.S.Mills—it gets tougher now.

Here is hoping to completing the course. 🙂
